5 signs your website is invisible to AI search
24 March 2026 · AEO Ireland Team
Quick self-audit. If three or more of these apply to your site, you are almost certainly invisible inside ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity right now.
Most business owners assume that because their site looks fine and ranks somewhere on Google, it must also be findable in AI search. In our experience auditing Irish websites, that's almost never true. Here are the five most common red flags.
1. You have no schema markup
Open your site in your browser, view source, and search for 'application/ld+json'. If nothing comes up, you have no schema. AI engines are working blind on your content.
2. Your homepage has no plain answer to 'what does this business do?'
If your H1 is a slogan instead of a clear sentence ('Premium experiences for the discerning client') the AI literally cannot tell what category you're in.
3. You have no FAQ content
AI engines love FAQs. If your site doesn't answer the actual questions your buyers ask, you've forfeited one of the easiest wins in AEO.
4. You have no author bios or expertise signals
AI weighs author authority heavily. A site with anonymous content is treated as lower trust than one with named, verifiable experts.
5. You haven't been cited anywhere in the last 12 months
If no Irish news outlet, directory, podcast, or industry body has linked to or mentioned you in the last year, AI engines have no reason to trust you over a competitor that has been mentioned.
